Create bold, expressive, textured paintings—even if you’ve never tried oils before
Curious about cold wax but not sure where to start?
This relaxed, hands-on workshop is the perfect introduction. You’ll spend the day experimenting, layering, and discovering how freeing (and addictive!) this medium can be.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to loosen up your style, you’ll be guided step-by-step in a supportive, friendly group.
 
🌿 What you’ll experience
By the end of the day, you’ll have:
Created textured, expressive paintings using oil & cold wax
Learned how to build layers, depth, and atmosphere
Gained confidence working more loosely and intuitively
Explored new tools and techniques (not just brushes!)
Let go of overthinking and enjoyed a more playful approach to painting
You’ll also work on several pieces at once—helping you keep your work fresh, dynamic, and full of energy.

How to mix oil paint with cold wax for the best results
Simple ways to organise your palette and colours
Tools and techniques for creating texture and interest
Working from imagination to create semi-abstract landscapes & seascapes
Using a limited palette to simplify and strengthen your work
Building paintings from abstract beginnings
How to use oil & cold wax over an acrylic underpainting
There’s a good balance of demonstration, guidance, and plenty of time to explore your own work.
